The size of any house you look at is very important. If it is too small you can find yourself feeling trapped but also overwhelmed by the amount of space you have compared to the amount of stuff you have. Your house can end up becoming very cluttered.

Yet if the house is too big you may find yourself overwhelmed by the amount you have to clean. You may find yourself unable to afford the high cost of electricity and other utilities that a house of that size demands.

Also, remember that the house has got to cater to your future needs as well as your current needs. If you are planning on starting a family or adopting then you will need more than one bedroom. And what about if a relative comes to stay? You may decide you need a spare room as well. 

2. Can You Renovate It? 

While there are many people who look for the first home as a place they are going to stay in for many years, some people see their first home as a stepping stone.

They want to climb the property ladder and make a profit. There are many ways to do this. So it's important to consider whether there is much you can do with the house to increase the amount of profit you can make. You need to weigh this up against the amount of investment the house will need.

You could inquire to see if any official complaints have been made against them at a local level or discreetly inquire about them in the neighborhood with other neighbors. 

Be sure to knock on their door and explain that you are considering moving in next door to judge them for yourself.
